Child Size Fedora Pattern Review

DIY Fedora hat pattern for kids - Rae gun Ramblings

When I first saw the darling Child Size Fedora Hat Pattern over at Elegance & Elephants I was totally smitten. So when I was invited to be apart of the E & E pattern tour I jumped at the chance to test out the pattern. I haven’t sewn anything besides really basic floppy hats but I instantly knew I wanted to try the fedoras with corduroy for the nieces. I love how darling they turned out. I can just imagine all kinds of variations with bows, various fabric textures, or even prints. I could totally see these making these for all the cute little boys and girls in my life, it would make such a fun unique handmade gift.

For someone like me who has never sewn a hat of this level the kid fedoras came together really quickly thanks to the super easy to follow directions and minimal pattern pieces. Like with anything else my second one only got better. But as you’d expect it was a little awkward to sew some parts just since it’s stiff and you have to get into tight places so I definitely recommend picking up some matching thread so  you don’t have to worry about being absolutely perfect. It’s not hard but the maneuvering might be a little tricky for someone very new to sewing. But if you’re comfortable on a sewing machine and take your time this should be a relatively quick and easy project.

If you would like to make your own child’s fedora hat, E&E Patterns is offering a 15% discount on the fedora pattern during the tour from Sept 23 (6am PST) – Sept 27 9pm PST).  The discount code is FEDORA15.

Also be sure to swing by Elegance and Elephants as well as the other blogs on this pattern tour to see the different ways my fellow bloggers have spun this pattern. I’ve checked out all the ones so far and it’s so fun to see the variety of looks made from this one pattern.
