How to Make a Harry Potter Wand Tutorial

We’re wand obsessed in my house so it was about time that I made some myself. I’m so excited to share how to make a Harry Potter wand with just a few household supplies!

I've tried a lot of wand tutorials and this is the easiest and fastest and they turn out great. Fun Harry Potter party or costume idea.

This is a super fun craft that’s totally appropriate to do with the kids. Not only am I sharing it as a part of my awesome Happy Harry Potter series because you know Harry Potter and magic wands, but I’m also joining forces with Craft Lightning’s Scout Projects this month! Thanks to the hosts, Me and My Inklings, The Country Chic Cottage, and 30 Minute Crafts for having me! Oh and if you love Harry Potter make sure to scroll to the bottom of this posts to enter the awesome HHP giveaways.

While you can certainly finish this project in 15 minutes with time to spare it’s a nice one because it can easily be drawn out if you want to occupy the kids for a little longer. So let’s get to it!

What You Need

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Chopsticks
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Brushes
  • Mod Podge or Clear Spray Paint (optional)

It really is SO easy. You apply hot glue to the fatter end of the chopstick in whatever patterns you like to form the handle and after that dries you paint it. I prefer acrylic paint but you can use spray paint too although I did have trouble with one of the cans of spray paint I tried never setting up. After your paint is dried you can top it with a layer of mod podge or clear spray paint.

Hands down the best Harry Potter wand tutorial. Way better than the others I've tried. Fun kid activity or party idea.

It makes a super cute give idea or photo prop. The kids LOVE casting spells with their DIY wizard wants! And while I did in fact buy the fancy interactive wands from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter when we went last year, and I believe they were worth every single penny. I prefer the kids using these cheapo wands to play around with!

How fun quick and easy DIY Harry Potter wands tutorial
