Cut out your cape. I cut two out at once by folding the fabric like a hotdog bun (you know lengthways) then I marked about 10 inches from the fold and took my ruler and made a diagonal line to the bottom (which for me was about 18 inches from the fold). Then on the short side I marked 3 inches down and I cut a curve from the fold to the short edge. That will give you the basic shape.

Next make your super hero emblem. I used a roll of lace (because it was close to me) but any big bowl would work and make a circle mine have 7.5 inch diameters. If you are making more than one make the same number of circles as capes. Set aside.

Make your iron on fabric. I just make a square big enough for the circle to fit in. I made one of the base fabric (white) and one of the top fabric (red). You can see my full tute on how to make iron-on’s here but you can probably get away with just reading the instructions on the heat bond.

Use the circle and trace onto the paper of the base fabric (that should have heatbond on it now) and cut out.

Now on your pattern draw your logo, I just did letters but a design would be cool too. Cut it out and use it as a stencil make sure to put it face down when tracing so the fabric will be the correct orientation when you cut it out (triple check).

Iron your top fabric to your circle base. Trim any spots that may need it. Now you should have a whole emblem.

Iron the emblem to the cape.

If you want to finish you you can serge the edges or roll under and sew the edges but unless you’re using a super fraying fabric it would probably be fine with just raw edges. I serged mine with a rolled edge.

Sew pieces of velro to the top and you’re good to go.
