Prep Time: 5 minutes
Course: Appetizer, Breakfast, Salad, Snack
Cuisine: Mexican
Keyword: Appetizer
Servings: 2 cups

  • 3 Tomatillos
  • 2 TBS Onions - chopped
  • 1/2- 2 Jalapeño - seeded and chopped
  • 2 TBS Cilantro - chopped about 1 ice cube or 6 sprigs
  • 1 Avocado - 1 large or 2 small or medium
  • 1/2 tsp Salt - I start with 1/2 tsp and then test. I usually end up with about 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/3 C Water

  • Prep the tomatillos. Peel off the husk. Rinse and quarter. Stick in the blender.
  • Chop onion. Or pull from the freezer like me and add it to the blender.
  • Seed and and remove stem of jalapeño. Add it to the blender You can use a spicier pepper if you want more kick. The jalapeño gives good flavor and depending on the type sometimes more heat than other times. I like to start with half a jalapeño and and more if I want more heat. Usually 1 full one is right for my tastes buds.
  • Add cilantro. Right into the blender.
  • Add avocado. Discard the seed and scoop the avocado out of the skin and add the flesh to the blender.
  • Add water, salt and garlic powder. And then blend it all up. Take a taste and see if you want more salt or pepper.
