This is what I saw when I walked into our main level bathroom today about an hour after showering. Now keep in mind the bathroom that is above this bathroom was our only functioning bathroom. We bought our house ready to go, it wasn’t a fixer up-er because WE ARE NOT HANDY. This summer as many of you know we had a fire a few days after that we had a flood. The flood was because the shower was improperly installed and for some reason about the same time the toilet in that bathroom hadn’t been working right so we just figured we’d have to remodel that whole bathroom. So we were down to the middle toilet with the fun but totally impractical tub and our shower and toilet upstairs. Well maybe two months ago the middle toilet started leaking so we stopped using the middle toilet. I’d been meaning to call the home warranty people but you know I hadn’t gotten to it. Well luckily I didn’t because apparently they wouldn’t have sent anyone out to us until after the weekend except for the fact that now we don’t have a working toilet. Yeah like the ceiling falling down and no way to bath wasn’t enough.
Any ways we’d really really appreciate prayers that insurance the warranty people will pay for all the repairs and damage and that it won’t be too much of a headache. Unfortunately the flood from the summer wasn’t covered by either the warranty people or the insurance so we are really praying that this will be different because unlike the other damages these have to be repaired right away. The first person is due to come in an hour I really hope it’s good news.
Also what insurance do you guys use? Have you used the insurance, have you liked the experience, if not who should we avoid? We’re tired of Allstate’s attitude when we have to deal with them. It seems like the first things out of their mouths are “that sounds like an ongoing problem we don’t cover that” when it’s clearly immediate things.

Ooh–I hope you get a better result this time. We use a mutual insurance company called Amica. We’ve been happy with them, but we have only needed to file a claim once. Our price was good, and because it’s a mutual company we get rebate checks for a portion of our premiums most years. We use them for car insurance too.
